8081 is a double album by jazz artists Pat Metheny, Dewey Redman, Charlie Haden, Michael Brecker, and Jack DeJohnette, which was released in 1980. Metheny toured in the U. in fall 1980 with a band including Redman, Haden, and Paul Motian. In the summer of 1981, he toured Europe with the full 8081 lineup. All music is composed by Pat Metheny except where noted. Pat Metheny acoustic and electric guitars. Michael Brecker tenor saxophone on tracks I-1, 2 II-2 III-1, 2 IV-1. Label: ECM. Musicians: Pat Metheny, Charlie Haden, Jack DeJohnette, Dewey Redman, Mike Brecker. This recording is in my top ten of must have music. It is sublime on all levels. From the beautiful, emotive guitar-work of Pat Metheny, to the essential bass of Charlie Haden and tenor sax of Dewey Redman and Michael Brecker. And perhaps the highlight of the recording is the intricate yet effortless drumming of Jack DeJohnette. Pat Metheny - 8081 1980. To favorites 3 Download album. Listen album. Pat Metheny. They were jet-lagged from red eye flights and had a full day of recording ahead of them. Metheny was not new to the recording location, nor to the ECM label and its manager Manfred Eicher. Back in 1974, when he was part of Gary Burtons band, he met Eicher when recording the album Ring. 8081-Broadway Blues - Pat Metheny. Pat Metheny - 8081 Pat Metheny's credibility with the jazz community went way up with the release of this package, a superb two-CD collaboration with a quartet of outstanding jazz musicians that dared to be uncompromising at a time when most artists would have merely continued pursuing their electric commercial successes. Pat Methenys 8081. The music was burning from the first note. The quintet assembled for the recording featured 25-year-old Pat Metheny guitar and some of his favourite musicians: Michael Brecker and Dewey Redman tenor saxophone, Charlie Haden double bass and Jack DeJohnette drums. For me, it is one of the most memorable sessions we have recorded and mixed in Oslos Talent Studio with recording engineer Jan E
