Clyde Thomas Davenport October 21, 1921 February 16, 2020 was an American old-time fiddler and banjo player from Monticello, Kentucky. Davenport was a recipient of a 1992 National Heritage Fellowship awarded by the National Endowment for the Arts, which is the United States government's highest honor in the folk and traditional arts. He died in February 2020 at the age of 98. Volume 2 continues in the effort to give some measure to Clyde Davenports huge repertoire with a well deserved direct to digital recording made upon return from a 2 month cross country recording trip in 1994. Although Dave Spilkia and I had visited Monticello in 1974, we only met Clydes music partner W. Gregory 2 LPs on Davis Unlimited. Numerous subsequent trips in the 1980s to Clyde and his wife Lorene cover photo let me begin to understand the wealth of material Clyde possessed and the playful nature of his friendship.
