This fantastic piece of Rag-Time was recorded in 1898 by 1880's minstrel show dancer Billy Golden, accompanied on the piano by famous Chicago Rag-Time pianist Fred Hylands. The announcement at the beginning of this recording is not by Golden himself, but by the other famous recording star Len Spencer, who often was advertised as the Voice of Columbia by doing many of Columbia's announcements from 1897 to 1900. William B. Shires June 9, 1858 January 29, 1926, who performed and recorded as Billy Golden, was an American blackface comic and singer who was a popular recording artist between the 1890s and the 1910s.
